Make sure you don’t lack Vitamin D

Make sure you don’t lack Vitamin D

Vitamin D deficiency can also lead to extreme tiredness, headaches, and reduced physical energy.

Health is a great blessing from the Creator of the universe.
If there is no health, then wealth, high status, position, and other activities hold no real value. It is often said in regard to health that “Prevention is better than cure.” In other words, by adopting certain precautions and healthy habits, we can protect ourselves from many medical problems.

It has been observed that many of our health-related issues are the result of distancing ourselves from nature. The modern, machine-driven lifestyle, while offering many conveniences, has also contributed to an increase in health problems. For example, waking up early in the morning has become rare. Natural foods, fruits, and vegetables are either consumed very little or not at all, while artificial, fast, and junk foods are increasingly preferred.

There are several such factors that have caused diseases, typically seen in old age, to now become common among the youth.

Vitamin D deficiency

Vitamin D deficiency is one of these issues. Young girls often do not drink milk, and when these girls become mothers, their children are also born with weak bones due to a lack of Vitamin D.
Sunlight is considered the primary and most effective source of Vitamin D, but in the present day, the practice of sitting in the sun has almost disappeared. It was previously believed to be a problem limited to countries with less sunlight. However, even in countries like Pakistan — where sunlight is abundant — the number of Vitamin D deficiency cases is increasing.

Vitamins are extremely important

Vitamins are extremely important for maintaining the health and energy of the human body. They are essentially hidden nutrients found in our food. You could say these hidden elements are naturally present in all our meals. A deficiency in these vitamins can lead to various illnesses.

Vitamins are of two types:

  1. Water soluble vitamins
  2. Fat soluble vitamins

Vitamin D is one of them. It is found in fish, milk, butter, and eggs, and it helps in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus into the body. Vitamin D functions almost like a hormone within the human body, and its continuous presence is essential. This vitamin does not remain stored in the body for long.

Deficiency in Vitamin D

A deficiency in Vitamin D can impact bone health and the immune system.
Vitamin D strengthens the immune system. If the body lacks it, common infections or viruses can take longer to heal. It can lead to respiratory tract infections, such as cold, flu, and pneumonia, becoming more frequent.

Vitamin D is necessary

Vitamin D is necessary for strong bones as it helps the body absorb calcium, thus strengthening the skeletal system. A lack of this vitamin can lead to weak bones and back pain. Its deficiency doesn’t only affect the bones and back but also has adverse effects on joint health.
Pain in the hips, knees, or spine can be linked to its deficiency, and in such cases, a Vitamin D test should be taken on a doctor’s advice.

Vitamin D deficiency can weaken the nervous system, leading to nerve pain. This vitamin plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of nerve cells that transmit pain signals to the brain. While there are many causes of nerve issues, one study showed that 71% of people suffering from severe nerve pain were deficient in Vitamin D.

If your wounds or cuts take longer to heal, it is quite possible that your body lacks Vitamin D. Research suggests that Vitamin D helps increase the amount of compounds essential for new skin formation.
It also strengthens resistance against inflammation and infection.

If you are experiencing hair loss or thinning hair, Vitamin D deficiency could be a cause. Although no definitive link between hair loss and Vitamin D has been proven, it has been confirmed that among women, this vitamin’s deficiency contributes to hair loss.

Modern scientific research

Modern scientific research has also proven a connection between Vitamin D deficiency and depression, especially in elderly individuals. Women suffering from depression showed improvement when given Vitamin D supplements.

Despite living a balanced lifestyle, a constant feeling of fatigue could also be due to a lack of this vitamin. According to a study, severe tiredness, headaches, and low physical energy may also result from Vitamin D deficiency.
