Strong bones lead to a majestic life.

Strong bones lead to a majestic life.

Arthritis is a painful condition that can, in some cases, lead to disability. Therefore, start taking care of your bones and joints from an early age.

Bones and joints are essential for maintaining physical structure and movement. Taking care of them is extremely important, as any damage to their health can lead to bone- and joint-related diseases. For instance, if the lubrication in the joints decreases for any reason, causing bones to rub against each other, this condition is known medically as arthritis.

Although this disease is common around the world, many people ignore the early symptoms due to a lack of awareness. By the time they consult a specialist, the condition has often become chronic and complicated, making treatment difficult. However, with timely diagnosis and early treatment, the severity of the disease can be reduced, and the risk of complications significantly lowered.

To raise awareness about arthritis globally, Arthritis and Rheumatism International initiated World Arthritis Day on October 12th, 1996, which has since been observed every year on the same date.

Arthritis is also common in Pakistan, but unfortunately, no official survey has been conducted to collect yearly statistics. However, it is estimated that the prevalence of arthritis in Pakistan ranges between 3.6% to 4.6%, and about 2,000 out of every 100,000 children develop arthritis each year.

Now the question arises: What are the causes of arthritis? In most cases, lack of exercise, consumption of junk food, and obesity are primary factors. Additionally, prolonged use of mobile phones or computers and lack of physical activity also weaken the joints.

Although there are many types of arthritis, the three most common are:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Juvenile Arthritis

Among these, Rheumatoid Arthritis is generally the most severe. It is worth noting that both Rheumatoid Arthritis and Juvenile Arthritis can be hereditary, whereas Osteoarthritis usually affects individuals over the age of 50. Rheumatoid Arthritis, on the other hand, can affect individuals at any age, including children.

Symptoms vary depending on the type of arthritis, but the early signs often include joint pain, especially after extensive movement or sitting on the floor. The disease most commonly affects the knees, followed by the hips and ankles. In rheumatoid arthritis, the hands are more frequently involved. To reduce the severity of the disease, avoid putting strain on the joints and refrain from sitting on the floor.

Diagnosis is usually done through X-rays, which help reveal bone and joint issues. Blood tests are specifically used to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis. Modern treatments for arthritis include medications, physical therapy, and joint lubrication injections. Currently, joint replacement surgery (such as for hips or knees) is considered the most reliable treatment. Additionally, stem cell therapy is effective but quite expensive and currently not widely available in Pakistan. Another method is PRP therapy (Platelet-Rich Plasma), which uses the patient’s own blood.

Many misconceptions about arthritis are common in our society. For example, the belief that the disease can be 100% controlled at an early stage is incorrect. However, with a balanced diet and weight control, progression can be slowed significantly. It’s also important to clarify that if a pregnant woman has arthritis, her unborn child is typically not affected.

The most serious complication of arthritis is complete joint immobility, which can lead to disability. Therefore, preventive measures are crucial. If a person is overweight, they should reduce their weight relative to their height. Incorporate a balanced diet with milk, fruits, and vegetables, and make exercise a part of daily routine. Minimize the intake of fast and junk food. In case of arthritis, patients should avoid sitting on the floor or climbing stairs, and use a commode instead of a traditional toilet.

Remember, arthritis is a painful disease that can sometimes lead to disability. That’s why it’s vital to start caring for your bones and joints from a young age.

Why Blogging Websites Are the Worst Invention Ever

Why Blogging Websites Are the Worst Invention Ever If you’re ever feeling too happy, too hopeful, or too optimistic about the internet, just take a stroll through a typical blogging website. It’s like walking into a digital junkyard where outdated templates and broken English collide to create an experience that’s about as enjoyable as chewing cardboard. First of all, the design. Every blogging site looks like it was created in 2008 and then left to rot. The fonts are hideous, the colors clash like a toddler picked them, and don’t even get me started on the endless pop-ups begging you to “Subscribe to my newsletter.” As if anyone actually wants a daily email full of recycled advice about “10 ways to wake up early” or “How to drink water like a billionaire.” Then there’s the content. Oh, the glorious content! Blogging websites are basically museums of useless information. Want to read a 2000-word essay about why cats are cute? Or maybe a “step-by-step guide” to boiling an egg? Congratul...
