Begin every morning with breakfast.

A foolish major mistake of modern households is skipping breakfast.
A foolish and major mistake of modern households is skipping breakfast, often due to late mornings.
In our country, where breakfast usually consists of just toast and strong tea, if someone suffers from vague and nameless complaints — with no clear cause and no abnormalities found through medical tests — then it’s important to investigate their dietary habits and check their blood sugar levels at different times of the day.
It can now be said without fear of contradiction that in our society, laziness, sluggishness, fatigue, confusion, irritability, weakness, absent-mindedness, and mental disarray are all closely linked to poor eating habits.
In a way, our unhealthy diet can be compared to a highly flammable substance.
Those who skip breakfast may exhibit cunning when dealing with various national issues, personal matters, and political or economic complexities.
Therefore, a good breakfast holds great importance for office workers, factory employees, institutional staff, drivers, pedestrians, and students in schools and colleges. It is possible that people who appear irritable, short-tempered, mentally disturbed, depressed, or chaotic might actually have low blood sugar levels. The brain requires an adequate level of blood sugar for energy, and a deficiency in this can even lead to fainting spells.
An elderly woman from a well-off family experienced extreme weakness one evening. She broke into a sweat, and her heart began to race. Her family, quite understandably, feared that she might be having a heart attack. However, a thorough examination and an ECG showed normal results. Upon further inquiry, it was revealed that she lived alone in a luxurious seaside house. Most of her children lived abroad. A son and daughter-in-law lived next door and checked on her occasionally, while a rural maid looked after her. Recently, her daughter had visited from America. After her departure, the woman became severely depressed. She stopped eating, and as a result, her blood sugar dropped, leading to her condition. A few spoonfuls of sugar dissolved in water provided immediate but temporary relief.
There is no doubt that in many people, weakness, exhaustion, fatigue, palpitations, headaches, legs giving out while walking, and some vague, nameless complaints without any apparent cause may be due to low blood sugar. Even though neither they nor their loved ones suspect it, they often believe they are suffering from a heart condition. The following real-life incidents highlight how people believed they had heart disease, when in fact they did not.
One man went hunting but forgot his breakfast box at home and spent the entire day hunting without food or water.
Another man went to his automobile factory without breakfast and worked hard until the afternoon without lunch.
A third person was vacationing in the mountains and attempted to climb a peak before having breakfast. He had taken a walk in the morning and then engaged in physical activity all day without eating or drinking anything.
A fourth individual drastically reduced his food intake to lose weight. He experienced weakness early in the morning and during the late hours of the night when blood sugar is typically at its lowest.
An elderly woman complained that she would faint every time she had to go out and walk even a little. Living alone, she didn’t want to bother cooking, nor did she have the energy. Her diet mostly consisted of sweet biscuits.
Despite thorough medical examinations, no faults were found in these individuals, yet they were deeply distressed due to their symptoms. They were convinced that they were suffering from a heart disease. Their wives cared for them as worried mothers care for premature infants, and their heart condition became the focal point of the household’s concern.
A female student was psychologically afraid of eating. Her blood sugar often dropped, and whenever she drove, she would end up in accidents.
One incident involved a healthy and well-built man who only drank a cup of coffee before going to the office. By midday, he would start to feel faint. His wife, a lady doctor, was also suffering from poor nutrition. Partly due to depression and partly due to being busy with work, she didn’t eat properly and would only consume something when she experienced palpitations and started sweating. She lacked the energy and motivation to care for her husband. It was a case of “this house is entirely in darkness.”
These are not just stories; they are real-life accounts containing a world of lessons for those willing to reflect.
The condition of school-going children is even more alarming. Due to watching television late at night, they don’t get enough sleep. They wake up late, have limited time for morning routines, worry about being late, and rush to school without having breakfast. If they had a heavy dinner late at night, as is now common, eating breakfast becomes even harder.
As a result, most children don’t go to school after having a proper breakfast. Many leave home without eating anything. Some get by on just a glass of milk, while others may eat a slice of buttered toast. These children often display irritability, restlessness, poor concentration, disinterest in studies, and fatigue. They appear sleepy and are unable to perform any major tasks properly.
The pocket money they receive is usually spent on sweets and snacks from roadside vendors near schools, but they remain in a constant state of nutritional deficiency. This does not compensate for a proper breakfast; in fact, it marks the beginning of future health problems. The widespread tooth decay in children is largely due to excessive consumption of sugar and sugary foods.
Even in an educated and prosperous country like the United States, half of the children do not eat a proper breakfast. Girls tend to have worse habits in this regard. The same applies to working women. Most people’s breakfast is incomplete and lacks adequate protein, usually consisting of just tea and toast. Such individuals are unable to work efficiently and get tired quickly. They remain sluggish and weak not only until noon but also appear weary, tired, and drained even after having lunch.
